February 7, 2008 Just back from a USO trip to the Middle East, Kix Brooks threw a launch party for his Arrington Vineyards wine at the trendy Blue Smoke restaurant in New York City on Sunday.
Guests were treated to four different wines, as well as the Blue Smoke's barbecue and the Super Bowl victory of the hometown New York Giants. A number of items were auctioned off, including a case of Arrington Wine autographed by Kix, two tickets to the 2008 Baseball All-Star Game in Yankee Stadium, a Gibson Les Paul Standard Guitar autographed by Kix and a trip to see Brooks & Dunn at any venue in the U.S.
In addition, the post-game revelry included an acoustic performance by the Hitmen of Music Row: songwriters Bob DiPiero ("You Can't Take The Honky Tonk Out Of The Girl"), Craig Wiseman ("Live Like You Were Dying"), Tony Mullins ("Me And My Gang") and Jeffrey Steele ("What Hurts The Most").
More than $35,000 was raised for the T.J. Martell Foundation, a non-profit agency that supports research for cancer, leukemia and AIDS.
