February 8, 2008 — Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts album has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipments of 7 million copies. In the process, it became the best-selling solo female debut in country music history, and it gives her the best-selling album of any American Idol competitor.

The honor comes at an opportune time. Carrie will be performing Sunday on the Grammy Awards (8 p.m. ET, CBS), where she's nominated for Best Country Female Performance for "Before He Cheats," one of the songs featured on Some Hearts. Carrie is also nominated with Brad Paisley for Best Country Collaboration, for "Oh Love."

Carrie's not the only country artist with new metal to tote home. Rascal Flatts' Feels Like Today album has been certified quintuple-platinum, signifying shipments of 5 million copies. And Reba McEntire's Hallmark project, Love Revival has gone gold.
