February 14, 2008 - The Best Of The Johnny Cash TV Show, a two-disc DVD featuring performances from the Man In Black's prime-time ABC program, has been certified platinum, recognizing the shipment of more than 100,000 copies.
Released in September, the set features 66 performances from the program, most of which was shot at the Ryman Auditorium between 1969 and 1971. Many of the performances document some of the biggest names of the era: Stevie Wonder singing "Heaven Help Us All," Tammy Wynette on "Stand By Your Man," Ray Price in "For The Good Times," Credence Clearwater Revival performing "Bad Moon Rising."
But the Best Of package also teams Johnny with many artists for a series of unique duets. He joined George Jones on "White Lightning," the Everly Brothers and Ike Everly on "That Silver-Haired Daddy Of Mine," Linda Ronstadt on "I Never Will Marry," Louis Armstrong on "Blue Yodel No. 9" and Derek & The Dominos and Carl Perkins on "Matchbox."
More volumes of material from The Johnny Cash Show are expected to be issued in the future.
