Bucky Covington's the Boss

February 22, 2008 - Bucky Covington is quickly finding success in country music, but one thing he hadn't considered is that being an artist also means being a boss.

When he was growing up, his father owned a body shop and would sometimes voice his desire to just be a worker instead of the head of the company. As a kid, Bucky thought that was silly: The owner makes more money. But now that he's had to hire musicians and a support crew, Bucky understands his dad's viewpoint was rooted in the stress of being a leader.

"We have to do good because there's a lot of people who have a job right now because of what we do," Bucky told Dial-Global. "If I drop off, there's a lot of people who will have to look for a new job."

At the moment, Bucky's doing his own job fairly well. He earned a Top 10 hit with his first single, "A Different World," and he's currently in the Top 20 with his follow-up, "It's Good To Be Us." Bucky's on tour these days as an opening act for Dierks Bentley.
