February 28, 2008 - Billy Ray Cyrus will host the country-music talent competition "Nashville Star" when the series moves from cable to NBC in June, he said last night on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."

This will be the sixth season for the show, which launched the careers of Miranda Lambert, Buddy Jewell and Chris Young.

"This year it is all about the dream, about the music, about persistence and never giving up faith," Billy Ray told Leno. "You know, I've been to the fair, and I've seen the bear, and I'm really excited."

Leno laughingly conceded he had no idea what Billy Ray meant with that last sentence. Neither did Miley Cyrus, who appeared with her dad on The Tonight Show, which ended with the pair singing "Ready, Set, Don't Go."
