March 10, 2008 - Now that he's left Lonestar, vocalist Richie McDonald is working on a solo career that kicks off with a bit of a surprise: Richie plans to release a Contemporary Christian album June 3.

Titled I Turn To You, the album features Richie as the songwriter of all but two of the cuts and boasts Frank Myers as the producer. Frank is quite the songwriter himself, having co-written Lonestar's "I'm Already There," as well as John Michael Montgomery's "I Swear" and the Eddie Rabbitt/Crystal Gayle classic "You And I."

"I've always wanted to do this kind of album," Richie says. "I just thought it was time. I feel like I'm doing music that really makes a difference. I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing now, and it feels right in my heart."

Among the tracks is an acoustic version of "Hey God," a song Richie wrote during his tenure with Lonestar.
