March 12, 2008 - Carrie Underwood might be a former "American Idol" champion, but she remains in awe of the people who are her own idols. That includes Dolly Parton, who she has yet to meet.

"I've been at several events [with her], including the Kennedy Center Honors, and she was less than 15 feet from me," Carrie told The Sacramento Bee. "But I couldn't bring myself to meet her. That night was her night."

Carrie remains in touch with numerous "Idol" graduates, including Lindsey Cardinale, who competed the same year as Carrie and has now made an album of her own.

"I hang out with Kellie Pickler, and I see Chris Daughtry and Jordin Sparks," Carrie said. "Funny thing, we are the only ones who would understand what we went through."

Carrie returns to "Idol" April 9 for a special presentation of "American Idol: Idol Gives Back."
