March 24, 2008 - Anyone who followed Trace Adkins' progress through the NBC show "The Celebrity Apprentice" this year had to be impressed with his creative ability. He wrote a Pedigree dog-adoption commercial, came up with the winning slogan for a Crocs show campaign, and conceived the Cowboy Club sandwich, which is currently on sale at Quiznos.

Trace chalks up a lot of that cleverness to the things he's learned as a songwriter. He doesn't write most of his material, but he did pen his first single, "There's A Girl In Texas," and "The Rest Of Mine," which he wrote for his wife, the former Rhonda Forlaw.

"Songwriters are good marketers," Trace told The Tennessean. "They are just marketing life experiences better than anyone else. A songwriter can always turn those talents toward marketing anything he wants to. The songwriting is really what gave me a leg up in some of those tasks."

Trace's final task is this Thursday. He goes head to head with "America's Got Talent" personality Piers Morgan to determine the season's winner in a special two-hour finale.
