Dolly Parton, Hannah Montana's Aunt

March 26, 2008 - When Dolly Parton agreed to become Miley Cyrus' godmother, she didn't realize she would also be creating a new future identity for herself.

But that's exactly what's happened. Dolly's personal relationship with Miley and her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, has evolved into a recurring role as an aunt on the Disney Channel's Hannah Montana. So while the rest of the world knows Dolly as the singer and writer of "9 To 5" and "I Will Always Love You," she has a different reason for being famous to many of America's pre-teen girls.

"That is the most amazing thing, what that little show is doing," Dolly told Dial-Global. "I am Hannah Montana's Aunt Dolly ... I'm not a singer, I'm not a writer, I'm not a movie star — it's got nothing to do with me. I'm famous now 'cause I'm Hannah Montana's Aunt Dolly. Little kids just see me in the street and just point — 'Aunt Dolly!' or 'Hi, Aunt Dolly!' — and it's just been so cute."

Dolly is currently GAC's Artist of the Month.
