You Don't Bring Me Flowers: Trent Tomlinson's Wedding Disaster

April 4, 2008 - Every couple seems to want the perfect wedding. And almost no one gets the "perfect" wedding.

Just ask Trent Tomlinson. He married Jessica Lowman last month at a church in Catawba, N.C., where they were surrounded by lots of family, lots of friends - and no flowers.

"We had a wedding planner that dropped the ball," Trent told The Tennessean. "There were thousands of dollars spent on flowers that didn't make it to the church. It was really beautiful, but all in all, things didn't pan out the way she wanted them to. There were a lot of things that were missing, but all in all, it was our day, and it was great."

Obviously, Trent is a glass-half-full type of guy, because — as it turned out — they encountered problems on the honeymoon, too. They spent a week in Cabo San Lucas, but they got bumped from their return flight when the airline overbooked it. Trent and Jessica were re-booked for a flight the next day, only to have that one canceled. An airline rep offered to make it up to the newlyweds by providing overnight accommodations, promising them a stay in a five-star hotel. Which might have been about four stars too many.

"To be honest," Trent said, "it was so nasty we took showers in our flip flops. It was a complete lie, and it was a lot of expense out of my pocket. But you know what? We got to stay a few more days and enjoy each other's company."

For the record, Trent did make it back to Nashville this week. He and Jessica will be living in North Carolina.
