April 11, 2008 - Hank Williams, Steve Wariner and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band lead a class of six new inductees into the Music City Walk of Fame. Sponsored by GAC, the induction ceremony takes place at Hall of Fame Park in downtown Nashville April 20.

In addition to Hank, Steve and the Dirt Band, April's ceremony — presented by Gibson Guitar in conjunction with several Nashville agencies — will include the installation of markers honoring Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman, jazz sax player Kirk Whalum and late artist manager Merle Kilgore, who authored such country classics as "More And More" and "Ring Of Fire."

"Each honoree represents the immense talent, creativity and diverse musical styles that have Nashville, Music City," said Butch Spyridon, president of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Their names will be embedded in a star-and-guitar design, akin to the stars that line the Hollywood Walk of Fame, along the Music Mile. The event marks only the fourth induction ceremony since the Walk of Fame was inaugurated in 2006 and brings the total number of members to 24. Previous inductees have included Ronnie Milsap, Barbara Mandrell, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris and Reba McEntire, among others.

The induction ceremony is free and open to the public.
