Bucky Covington on Sophomore CD

May 7, 2008 — Bucky Covington’s self-titled debut album has been out a lucky 13 months — lucky in that during that time, he’s earned hits with the first two singles from that project: "A Different World" and "It’s Good To Be Us."

Bucky came to prominence as a contestant on "American Idol," and because it was important to keep up the momentum he established on that show, he has a completely different view of his sophomore album than most artists.

"When a lot of people come up, they have all the time in the world for the first album, and then the second album is rushed," he explains. "I’m kinda opposite. I had no time for the first album, and now I got a lot more time for the second album."

With the success that "Idol" participants have had in country music, Bucky was offered a lot of songs to record when he cut that first CD, and he’s actually held over several of them for this next album. In addition, he’s started writing new material for the project.

He’s in no hurry about getting it out. He recently released his third single from Bucky Covington, "I’ll Walk." Assuming it does well, it could keep him on the country chart for another six months. That leaves plenty of time to decide if there’ll be a fourth single from the album or if he moves on to the next project.
