May 15, 2008 Miranda Lambert won the Academy of Country Musics Top New Female Vocalist award last year, and now she finds herself in even headier company. Shes a finalist for Top Female Vocalist against Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. Youd better believe it means something to her.
"Im a country music fan, and I have been forever," she said on GACs ACM Showcase. "I have, I think, every album Martina McBride ever put out, and I used to sit by the speaker. And my dad bought me the cassette tape of Blue when it came out, and [I] tried to sing just like Leann Rimes. And now Im actually sitting next to em, in a category with them, and its really surreal."
The winner will be determined Sunday during the ACM Awards in Las Vegas. You can find out more about the female nominees when ACM Showcase airs today on GAC at 10 a.m. ET and again at 3 p.m.
