May 15, 2008 — A spokesman for country superstar Shania Twain announced today that Shania and her husband, famed producer "Mutt" Lange, are separating.
"Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, are separating after 14 years of marriage. This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time," said Jason Owen, spokesman for Shania.
Shania and Mutt met backstage at Fan Fair in 1993 and married in December 1993. Mutt produced Shania's second album, The Woman in Me, released February 7, 1995. Together they created what would be her signature sound — a mixture of country, pop and rock that propelled the Canadian singer to superstar status and made her one of the top-selling female artists of all time.
The couple has one son, Eja, born August 12, 2001.
