May 27, 2008 Dierks Bentley has made a nice mark for himself during the 21st century, already piling up enough hit singles to warrant his first greatest-hits album. But Dierks is thinking beyond simply being a commercial success. He wants to take chances by doing some music thats a little left-of-center, and hes hoping to get a shot at that in the future.
"Theres a couple of records Id like to do down the road," he told Dial-Global. "One would certainly be an acoustic/bluegrass kind of album. Ive always cut a bluegrass song on every record and love acoustic records. So Id like to do something like that maybe Dierks and Del and friends, you know, Dierks and Del McCoury, or something like that, if hed do it. But also Id love to do a live record. Our live show is so different from our studio performances that I think it would make for an interesting record, cause its a totally different deal."
In fact, Dierks threw some live cuts on his Greatest Hits//Every Mile A Memory 2003-2008, released earlier this month. He also demonstrated his commitment to bluegrass by remaking "I Dont Believe Youve Met My Baby" with Harley Allen for the album Livin, Lovin, Losin: Songs Of The Louvin Brothers. That CD brought a Grammy to producer Carl Jackson in 2004 for Best Country Album.
