June 3, 2008 — Steve Wariner is in Manhattan today to receive the Hope Award from the Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital Hall Family Center, honoring his efforts on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Steve will perform "There Will Come A Day (Holly’s Song)," which he gave to the JDRF for promotional and fund-raising purposes, during the ceremony at the St. Regis Hotel. Steve’s honor is precedent-setting: He’s the first person from outside the medical field given the Hope Award.

"Mount Sinai does incredible work and research, and we’re all committed to finding a cure for diabetes," Steve said. "I feel blessed to be able to use my talents in any way to join that effort."

Steve wrote "There Will Come A Day (Holly’s Song)" in honor of his stepdaughter, who was diagnosed with diabetes in her youth. Steve has chaired at least four different fund-raising events for diabetes research and took part in a 2002 effort that raised $650,000 for further research at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A former winner of the Minnie Pearl Humanitarian Award, Steve was inducted into the Nashville Walk of Fame in April.
