June 19, 2008 Michelle Branch is clearly not afraid of the unknown. After establishing herself as a pop singer, she shifted into country music as one-half of the Wreckers. Now shes working on her first solo country album, and shes also expanding her efforts by opening her own bakery.
"Baking, like music, is a creative release for me and can also be very therapeutic," she said in a post on her website. "You can always tell when I am stressed out because suddenly my house gets filled with cookies, cupcakes and pie. It takes my mind off of whatever is wrong in the world."
Michelles bakery will reside in Nashville with the name the Sugar Bar. Shes enlisted pastry chef Rebekka Seale to take charge of the eatery, which she wants to be beneficial to Tennesseans and to be as healthy as a pastry shop can be.
"It will be an old-fashioned bakeshop and bar where you can go grab a drink after dinner and a slice of bourbon chocolate cake or summer berry pie," she wrote. "We will also be using as many local, organic and natural ingredients as possible."
Rebekka will keep Michelles fans up to date on the shops progress via www.blog.thesugarbar.com. In the meantime, Michelles album, Everything Comes And Goes, should be released by the end of the year.
