Lost Trailers, Darius Rucker Debut On Opry

July 2, 2008 — Two acts that are making their first big splashes on the national charts will also make their first appearances on the venerable Grand Ole Opry stage during the month of July.

The Lost Trailers are set to perform their current Top 20 hit, "Holler Back," when they debut on a Tuesday edition of the Opry July 8. Darius Rucker, who gained fame as the lead singer of 1990s pop-rock band Hootie + The Blowfish, rides his Top 25 country single "Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It" to the Opry’s famous stage one week later.

"When I was asked if I wanted to perform on the Grand Ole Opry, I yelled, ‘Are you kidding me?!? I’ve been waiting for that my whole life,’" Darius says. "To be invited where so many of the greatest country artists have performed is an honor, and I still can't believe it has been bestowed on me."

"Playing the Grand Ole Opry is an absolute highlight for this band," Lost Trailers lead singer Ryder Lee echoes. "We plan on building on our debut performance by bringing the holler back to the greatest country show ever."

Before that moment arrives, the Trailers have a Fourth of July appearance to make at Nashville’s Riverfront Park, where the talent list also includes Phil Vassar and Michael McDonald, among others. The fireworks will celebrate the nation’s birthday, though the Trailers will be secretly pretending the display is for the band’s anniversary: The group made its first live appearance on Independence Day during Willie Nelson’s annual Fourth of July Picnic in 2001.
