July 8, 2008 Miranda Lambert earned Album of the Year honors in May from the Academy of Country Music for her sophomore release, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and thats set up high expectations for her third CD.
Miranda is doing her best to not let the last release influence the next.
"Ive started writing for the next record, and uhm, no pressure," she told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville with a distinct amount of sarcasm. "This one was Album of the Year, so what am I gonna do now? But its definitely gonna be different, because Im just different and, in my life right now, every record I have kinda reflects on where I am as a 21-year-old girl or a 24-year-old girl. I dont know what this next one will be like, but Ive been writing for it, and so far, its going in a good direction."
As has the latest single from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. "Gunpowder & Lead" is currently a Top 10 hit the first single of her career to chart that high and the video is also Top 5 on GACs Top 20 Country Countdown. At the same time, shes singing harmony vocals on Blake Sheltons "Home," which just hit No. 1 this week in both Country Aircheck and Radio & Records.
