July 21, 2008 — Taylor Swift is one of the most successful current artists in any genre, but if she hadn’t pursued music, the 18-year-old would likely be attending college to learn about crime-fighting.

More specifically, she’d likely train to work in crime-scene investigation.

"A part of me thinks that I would be in criminal justice on like more of a forensic side of things — not the carry-guns side of things, ‘cause I’m scared of everything," she said on the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "I’m obsessed with ‘CSI,’ the show, but it’s because I’m so scared of the whole criminal-investigative thing, but I’m fascinated by it at the same time. I really like the science of it."

No forensic-science skills are needed to understand Taylor. She’s left pieces of her life in all of her songs, and her latest project — the Wal-Mart exclusive CD/DVD Beautiful Eyes — provides two new songs plus alternate versions of some of the material from her debut album.

Taylor’s second album will likely be released later this year. In the meantime, she’s on the road with Rascal Flatts on their Bob That Head Tour. Their travels this week include stops in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on Friday; Bristow, Va., Saturday; and Bethel, N.Y., Sunday.
