July 23, 2008 — Alan Jackson continues to leave his mark on country music. With more than 100 industry awards already under his belt, he’s now sold a whopping 50 million albums in his career, Arista Records announced.

The news comes at the same time that Alan’s latest album has him at the top of the heap in the genre. Good Time is in the Top 5 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, and the title track is the No. 1 country single in both Billboard and Country Aircheck.

The album is a stylistic return to his original sound after a couple of CDs that were out of the ordinary. Precious Memories was a gospel project, and Like Red On A Rose had a different sound to it, courtesy of producer Alison Krauss. Alan worked again on Good Time with producer Keith Stegall and the musicians who’ve played on most of his recordings. After the time away, a party song like "Good Time" was the perfect way to renew their relationship.

"We've been making records for years, and it gets a little routine," Alan told Dial-Global. "Over the last few years all of us have gotten a little stale and bored going in there every year or two, ya know? The guys play on a lot of people's records, and so it gets routine for them, and I think they don't get a chance to play real country music much anymore. And the first song we cut was 'Good Time.' That's the reason I did it. I said, 'We're gonna cut that song first.' We cut it, and everybody was fired up, and it set the mood for the whole album."

Alan’s label held a block party for him in 2001 when he reached the 35 million mark.
