July 23, 2008 — Many young women in their late-teen years have a bundle of issues with their mothers, but that does not include Taylor Swift.

She’s now legal age, has sold three million albums and won several industry awards, but she’s not gotten too big to acknowledge the role her mom has had in shaping her life.

"My mom and I have always been really close, and she’s always been the friend that’s always there," Taylor told Lorianne Crook on GAC’s CMA Celebrity Closeup. "There were times when [I was] in middle school and junior high that I didn’t have a lot of friends, but my mom was always my friend. Always. And you can never forget those people who are always there for you from the beginning. So my relationship with her has gotten even closer. My dad is like a kid in a candy store walking around at my concerts. He walks around with guitar picks in his pocket and gives them to people. And he sells T-shirts at the T-shirt booth."

The edition of CMA Celebrity Closeup featuring Taylor airs at 9 p.m. ET today on GAC and Thursday at 1 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET. Also on the program are Randy Travis and Gretchen Wilson. Another installment of CMA Celebrity Closeup debuts Saturday, with Sara Evans, Bucky Covington, Jake Owen and Joe Nichols. Click here to watch a sneak peek!
