Aug. 7, 2008 — Longtime friends Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart have plans to tour together later this year, and it appears they’ll also be collaborating on Travis’ next album, likely to be released in 2009.

"All these years Marty and I have been around each other, he's just like a brother," Travis told Billboard. "I never get tired of being in his company. He makes me laugh, and I always enjoy picking with him ... singing with him ... sitting around talking to him. We'll probably end up co-producing that [next album] together."

Marty has quite a bit of experience as a producer. He’s served in that role for wife Connie Smith, Kathy Mattea and Porter Wagoner, and produced the 2002 album Kindred Spirits: A Tribute To The Songs Of Johnny Cash.

Marty and Travis have worked together numerous times in the past. They won an award from the Country Music Association in 1992 for "This One’s Gonna Hurt You (For A Long, Long Time)" and claimed a Grammy in 1993 for "The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’." Travis also met his wife at a birthday party Marty threw in his honor.

"I'm thinking along the lines of something more acoustic," Travis said of the next album. "I think we're just gonna bring this down, more along the lines of an unplugged album and really get back to basics. I really can't say much outside of that; it's just in the talking stages now."

Also in the talking stages is a TV special. Both projects would coincide with Travis’ 20th anniversary as a recording artist; his debut single, "Country Club," first charted in September 1989.
