Aug. 29, 2008 Dwight Yoakam and Kris Kristofferson both play bad guys in a quasi-western movie currently in production, The Last Rites Of Ransom Pride.
At least some of the filming takes place in Canada, according to The Calgary Herald, with the picture also employing Jason Priestley, W. Earl Brown and Peter Dinklage.
"We've really taken the time to get this cast," Chad Oakes, of Nomadic Pictures, said. "It's eclectic and unique it's not a traditional western. It takes place in 1910, and it has all the western elements. Yet it could be construed as almost contemporary. It's really Sam Peckinpah meets Quentin Tarantino."
Dwight plays a killer minister and Kris has a role as an outlaw.
Even as production begins on this movie, both Dwight and Kris have other pictures ready to roll out by the end of the year. Four Christmases teaming Dwight with Tim McGraw, Robert Duvall, Mary Steenburgen and Reese Witherspoon, among others hits theaters Nov. 26, according to IMDB.com. Powder Blue featuring Kristofferson in a criminal role with Jessica Biel, Patrick Swayze and Lisa Kudrow rolls onto screens on New Years Eve.
