Oct. 2, 2008 — Martina McBride has been working steadily on her next album, which doesn’t yet have a name. But there is one name that will be featured on it prominently: Dann Huff.

After producing herself for the first time in her career on the last two studio albums, Martina decided she should enlist a co-producer again, as she did earlier in her career. So she turned to Dann, who’s played guitar on all of her albums.

"It's nice ... to have someone else shoulder some of the responsibility," she told The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "It just takes so much time to do it by yourself."

Dann’s already quite familiar with the producer’s chair. He’s taken that position for albums by Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes and Lonestar.

Martina’s album is supposed to be out next spring, and she hopes to send a single to radio in the next month or two. What that single will be remains unknown, though she’s repeatedly spoken in interviews about "Sunny Side Up," a song that has the same type of positive message that infused her 1998 hit "Happy Girl."

"We found some really great songs," she said. "I think it's a great record, and I'm proud of it. ... It's exciting to be putting a new album out."

Even before that project arrives, she’ll appear on another new album, Elvis Presley Christmas Duets, which comes out Oct. 14. Martina added her vocals to The King’s holiday classic "Blue Christmas," but she’s hardly alone in the effort. Among the other women appearing on the CD are Gretchen Wilson, Sara Evans, Carrie Underwood and LeAnn Rimes.
