Oct. 9, 2008 — Three albums into its lifespan, the Zac Brown Band has found its footing with "Chicken Fried." The song reached the Top 15 this week on the USA Today Mediabase country singles chart — the first time ZBB has reached that level.

Zac, the group’s namesake, co-wrote "Chicken Fried," and it’s an appropriate vehicle for the band to introduce itself to mainstream fans.

"The song is basically just a list of all the things that I love," he told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "Pretty much, this is who we are. And granted it was four or five years ago when we finished the song and we wrote it, but that’s the roots, and basically it’s like the more we get along and the older we get, there’s very few songs that you can say ‘I believe in,’ and those are the things that I want to write about and sing about. And that was just one of those things that was captured in that song."

Based in Georgia, the Zac Brown Band is currently busy tooling around the Southeast. They play shows in the Carolinas and the Peach State this weekend, and on Oct. 16, they begin a run of seven shows opening for Los Lonely Boys.
