Oct. 15, 2008 Billy Currington released his third album this week, and as he continues his upswing in music, he has his eye on branching out into another art form in the future.
"I would love to do some acting, and I really feel that's going to happen within the next five years," he told The Arizona Daily Star. "I feel like I will be a part of some kind of movie out there... We're just searching for the right role, and when we find it, we're going to pursue it."
In the meantime, Billys doing just fine with music. His 2007 hit "Good Directions" won Song of the Year honors this week from ASCAP, a performing rights organization, and the new CD, Little Bit Of Everything, blends a bunch of influences on a single disc.
It reflects "the influences I had growing up," Billy said. "I loved listening to the different types of music. I loved all the Willie Nelson and the [Merle] Haggard stuff, and then I loved all those soul singers and blues singers from Memphis. When I was making this album, all these different types of songs started coming out of me."
The first single from the album, "Dont," is acting like a hit. Its currently positioned at No. 22 on the Country Aircheck singles chart.
