Carrie Underwood Earns "Dream" No. 1

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will co-host on "The 42nd Annual CMA Awards" on Nov. 12, 2008, broadcast live on ABC Television from the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Oct. 30, 2008 — With her meteoric rise to fame, Carrie Underwood is living out an all-American dream, and it just got sweeter as she picked up the ninth No. 1 single of her career with "Just A Dream."

It’s the fourth chart-topping release from Carrie’s sophomore album, Carnival Ride, and her eighth overall to top the country singles charts. Her first No. 1 single came when "Inside Your Heaven," released just after her victory on TV’s "American Idol," debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart.

"All of the support that I’ve had," Carrie said, "is just incredible, and I’m just very appreciative."

Carrie picked up "Just A Dream" from some very accomplished songwriters. Steve McEwan authored the Kenny Chesney hits "Summertime" and "Young"; Gordie Sampson was a writer on "Jesus, Take The Wheel"; and Hillary Lindsey’s had credits on several of Carrie’s previous No. 1s, including "Jesus, Take The Wheel," "Wasted," "Last Name" and "So Small."

Carrie was attracted to "Just A Dream," she said, because it’s the kind of song that can help people "see things in a different way, or it can make them feel better about a situation that they’re in, or they can empathize with it, or they can listen to it, and the song tells exactly what they went through. Those songs, when they get so close, when so many people like them and hear them, and it makes an impact on their life, those are the ones that are really important."

Carrie is set to co-host The 42nd Annual CMA Awards with Brad Paisley on ABC from Nashville’s Sommet Center Nov. 12.
