Nov. 7, 2008 — Martina McBride can count on collecting another honor for her trophy case in December. She’s been named as this year’s recipient of the Harmony Award, presented annually during the Nashville Symphony Ball.

The award recognizes people whose support of music transcends the multiple genres presents in Music City, from country to rock to classical. Set for presentation Dec. 13 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, the Harmony Award’s history launches her into a unique group of musical talent. Previous winners include Vince Gill, Rascal Flatts, Trisha Yearwood and LeAnn Rimes, as well as Christian singers Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith, producer Tony Brown, guitarist Chet Atkins, rock musician Steve Winwood and record company owner Mike Curb.

Martina can warm up her acceptance speech abilities in the coming days. She’ll be inducted Sunday into the Music City Walk of Fame, along with Trace Adkins, Elvis Presley and Randy Travis, among others.

She’s also up for Female Vocalist of the Year at "The 42nd Annual CMA Awards" on Wednesday.
