Nov. 13, 2008 — Jamey Johnson’s album That Lonesome Song has made him a musical heir of Waylon Jennings, and it’s gotten him a huge amount of attention among music critics across the nation.

He’s already begun work on his next album, having hit the studio last week. In the meantime, the reaction to the current project is "humbling," he says, including the chart success of his single "In Color." The song is ranked at No. 11 in Country Aircheck.

"That song chronicles a lot of my grandfather," Jamey says. "He’s somebody that I loved dearly, and when he passed away, I felt like I lost a lot. And I did; I lost years worth of advice. But the thing is, it made me focus in on what I didn’t lose, and that’s the years that I got with him. That’s all that song was, just kinda thinkin’ about him, to honor him in that way. I hope it serves that purpose."

With all the positive feedback Jamey’s receiving from both the fans and his peers on Music Row, he’s reached a new level of comfort with his art.

"I finally feel at home in the music business," he says. "I feel like I finally fit in."
