Nov. 20, 2008 The Zac Brown Band has taken country music by storm, rising to No. 2 on the Country Aircheck chart with "Chicken Fried," a stunning achievement for a band that was mostly unknown just four or five months ago.
The groups road to the top was a bit rocky. It changed record companies in the middle of the stream, then finally released its album The Foundation on Tuesday. And the artwork on the cover is intended to provide a clue about the musical roots embedded in the disc.
"The cover of the CD has got me covered in Georgia red clay," Zac told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "Thats part of the sound of where I come from, being from Georgia. Thats me rising up out of Georgia. The covers just to capture thats Georgia red clay right out my front yard. I mean, you get it tracked all through your house, its in your shoes, it gets everywhere. But its one of those things that makes me think of home."
The Zac Brown Band will be playing his homestate over Thanksgiving weekend, but before they get there, ZBB has several other Southern locations on its itinerary. The band plays Memphis on Thursday, Louisville Friday and Nashville on Saturday.
