Nov. 20, 2008 — Josh Turner celebrates his 31st birthday Thursday, though it’s a safe bet his cake will be topped by traditional candles and not a "Firecracker."

Josh wrote that song, as well as his current single "Everything Is Fine," but not all of his hits have his name in the writing credits. And that, Josh says, is intentional.

"I’m always tryin’ to make my albums be a mix of not only my music but other people’s music, too," he notes. "I’m a singer first and foremost. I don’t wanna just be singin’ my songs all the time. I wanna venture out and sing what other people are writin’, but there’s always gonna be some of my songs on my records, just ‘cause that’s my heart, and my heart shines through the music that I write."

"Everything Is Fine," currently sitting at No. 30 on the Country Airplay singles chart, is written by Josh without any co-writers. Also holding that distinction are two earlier hits: "Long Black Train" and "Me And God."
