Nov. 20, 2008 — Country artists are noted for their work in the community, and there are several examples of that currently in evidence, starting with Pam Tillis’ trip on Wednesday to visit wounded soldiers.

Pam went to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., according to AllAboutCountry.com, along with singer-songwriters Rick Carnes, Eric Scott and Bob Sima. It was a no-brainer for her to take part.

"Rick Carnes called me and asked me if I would be interested in visiting Walter Reed, and that day just happened to be free on my schedule," she said. "It will be an experience I will carry in my heart forever."

Other upcoming efforts with charitable intentions include:
• Tracy Lawrence holds his third annual Mission Possible Turkey Fry on Tuesday at the Nashville Rescue Mission. Tracy and friends will deep fry 400 turkeys, helping to stock some 6,500 meals during the holiday season.

• Clay Walker performs Saturday at Carnegie Hall in New York during a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Among those joining him at the event are actress Teri Garr and the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony.

• Charlie Daniels hosts his annual Christmas For Kids concert Monday at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium with Rodney Atkins, Phil Vassar, Montgomery Gentry and Heidi Newfield.
