Nov. 21, 2008 Taylor Swift is creeping up on her 19th birthday with the No. 1 album in the land and a key to her parents house, which she still calls home.
Where many of her peers spent their teens in rebellion, Taylor devoted her time to building a career in country music. And she actually seems to listen to Mom and Dad.
Her father "is the king of one-liners," Taylor tells Womens Health. "So he has about 50 million pieces of advice. He'll say, Buy bonds! instead of bye-bye! Because he's a stockbroker."
And her mom continues to support Taylor with her frequently broken heart, which has fueled the lyrics to many of her songs.
Her mother told her "Don't ever call a guy first," Taylor noted. "The thing they want the most is whatever they can't have. It sounds really juvenile, but it works."
Taylor will perform Sunday on ABCs "American Music Awards," where shes nominated for Favorite Female Country Artist. Double nominees for the night include Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts. She's also GAC's Artist of the Month for November.
