Nov. 24, 2008 Keith Urbans latest single, "Sweet Thing," is already up to No. 26 on the USA Today Mediabase country chart, providing the first taste of his next album.
The CD, however, is still not quite finished. Hes got seven songs in production for the disc, which will come out sometime in 2009.
"Were doing it all in Nashville with the same guys I have used on the last four albums," he told The Daily Telegraph of Australia.
Keith admits to feeling some pressure about it. Capitol Records had been pushing him to have the album completed by Christmas when he started recording it, shortly after the summer tour with Kenny Chesney ended. But Keith would be the first to say his time in the studio often seems to plod along.
"It takes me quite a long while to make an album," he noted. "Its the technical side of the recording. Because I do a lot of layering of guitar parts, its intricate and that stuff just takes time. Of course it depends on the song. Some songs can take a couple of weeks to come together and be completely finished."
In the meantime, Keiths well represented on the radio not only with "Sweet Thing," but also with his Brad Paisley collaboration, "Start A Band."
