Nov. 26, 2008 One of the hallmarks of Christmas is its embrace of tradition; the music that dominates the radio during comes and goes, but every December, the same familiar songs get dusted off to remind us of exactly what season it is. The artists and titles change very gradually, so many of the songs we heard last year are songs well hear again in 2008, which means you should be prepared for yuletide music from Brenda Lee, Clint Black, Carrie Underwood and Alan Jackon, among others.
Theyre among the acts that appeared on a Country Aircheck list of the 100 most-played Christmas songs on country stations during 2007, and the Top 10 is a mix of tradition with comparatively newer material. Bobby Helms 1957 classic "Jingle Bell Rock" is the oldest title on the list, while Carries 2007 version of "Do You Hear What I Hear" is the youngest.
Following are the 10 most-played holiday songs from last year, as tabulated by Mediabase:
1. Vince Vance & The Valiants, "All I Want For Christmas Is You"
2. Brenda Lee, "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree"
3. Jeff Foxworthy, "Redneck 12 Days Of Christmas"
