Dec. 4, 2008 A month after she launched an online auction for womens shelters, Jewel kicked off a second auction Wednesday for the Project Clean Water charity.
Jewel and a number of other artists and songwriters have signed handwritten lyrics and put them up for bid to raise money for a nonprofit agency to bring safe water to people around the world. Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn and Jason Mraz are among the artists who have promised to donate lyrics before the auction ends Dec. 18. Already available at www.jeweljkauction.com are signed lyrics from Jewel for "Who Will Save Your Soul," Randy Owen for "Braid My Hair," Pat Green for "Dixie Lullaby" and songwriter Craig Wiseman for "Live Like You Were Dying."
"Project Clean Water has always been my passion along with music," Jewel says. "I am so excited to be able to find a way to tie the two together with this auction. I am also very blessed to have the support of my musician friends who will help make a stronger impact on the donations from the auction."
Jewels A Kiss For Country online auction continues through Dec. 12 at www.ubid.com. That fundraiser features autographed lip prints donated by the likes of Reba McEntire, George Strait, Ronnie Milsap and LeAnn Rimes.
