Elvis Presley Plane Up For Auction

Dec. 10, 2008 — A 1962 Lockheed Jetstar formerly owned by Elvis Presley will go up for bidding in Nevada next week during the 35th annual Las Vegas Collector Car Auction.

Set for Dec. 19 and 20, the event takes place at the South Point Hotel and Casino, with Elvis’ plane being featured alongside two high-end automobiles owned by Wayne Newton — a 1982 Mercedes-Benz and a 2001 Jaguar XK8 convertible — and Pamela Anderson’s "LoveStream" Trailer Lounge.

Elvis’ Lockheed jet is one of three airplanes the King owned during his lifetime. The other two have been returned to Graceland Mansion. The 1962 jet, which has never been restored, is expected to generate a top bid between $700,000 and $2 million. The plane is currently being stored in Roswell, N.M., where prospective buyers will be able to view it on Saturday and Sunday.
