Dec. 22, 2008 — Trace Adkins and Letters From Iwo Jima director Clint Eastwood have each shot public service announcements for the Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit organization that helps arrange trips for military veterans to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C.

The spots are slated to run at more than 1,600 movie theaters around the U.S., raising awareness for the Honor Flight agency, which has helped more than 20,000 former soldiers get to World War II monuments since its first flight in May 2005.

"With the song ‘Arlington,’ I've been fortunate enough to connect with many of our nation's veterans," Trace said. "They've given me much more than I could ever give them. That's why I was happy to participate in this project when approached about it."

More than 8,000 vets are currently on waiting lists to make their own trek to D.C. via the Honor Flight Network.
