Dec. 23, 2008 — Kellie Pickler just returned this weekend from her second USO tour, which took her — along with Kid Rock and Zac Brown — to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as several locations in Europe.
Kellie, who turned her first Middle East adventure into a GAC special with Storme Warren, is happy she made the trip.
"Once again, the most incredible thing I have ever done in my life," she wrote in her MySpace blog. "Thank you, thank you, thank you to the men and women serving our country. I will never take what you do for granted."
The trip took Kellie to five different countries in six days, and she ended up performing with Kid Rock at least once or twice. She was still suffering from jet lag when she checked in at her computer, but a couple of images dominated her memory.
"Seeing the faces of over 20,000 military men and women, that is forever imprinted in my mind," she wrote. "And the horrific endless sight of porta potties, that too is forever imprinted in my mind."
Despite being road weary on Sunday, Kellie might well leave town again again for the holidays. She told gossip columnist Marilyn Beck that after spending Christmas in Mexico last year, she envisioned taking a vacation for the holidays once again.
