Jan. 21, 2009 — Nearly a quarter of Kenny Chesney’s 50 shows in 2009 will be stadium events. In addition to 11 stadiums reported last week, Kenny’s also performing May 2 at Pizza Hut Park outside Dallas, bringing the total number of stadium shows to 12.

While his arena and amphitheater concerts will feature opening acts Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum, the Sun City Carnival stadium events add Sugarland and Montgomery Gentry to the festivities.

"There's something that happens when we're on those big stages," Kenny says. "You get to where you can really feel the back row — those people all the way back — like you were in a club on a really hot night, and there's no way to really put that into words, but those shows, they're something else. And as long as we've got cities where we know we can bring the biggest tent, then we're gonna keep doing it."

Kenny’s complete stadium itinerary for 2009 follows:
• May 2 Dallas, Texas Pizza Hut Park
• May 23 Columbus, Ohio Crew Stadium
• May 30 Louisville, Ky. Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium
• June 6 Pittsburgh, Pa. Heinz Field
• June 13 Chicago, Ill. Soldier Field
• June 27 Philadelphia, Pa. Lincoln Financial Field
• July 18 San Francisco, Calif. AT&T Park
• July 23 Sandy, Utah Rio Tinto Stadium
• Aug. 1 Seattle, Wash. Qwest Field
• Aug. 15 Foxborough, Mass. Gillette Stadium
• Aug. 22 Detroit, Mich. Ford Field
• Sept. 19 Indianapolis, Ind. Lucas Oil Stadium
