It’s a move that underscores Dierks’ sensitivity toward his fans. He engaged them last year in allowing 3,000 people to have input on the song selection and album artwork for Greatest Hits//Every Mile A Memory 2003-2008. Now he’s making his new album inexpensive at a time when those same fans are hurting financially.
Dierks spent a huge amount of time in the studio creating Feel That Fire, believing it should show some artistic progression from his previous work.
"I want something that needs to be on someone’s mantle," he told Billboard. "I have a bunch of U2 CDs, and each one has its own little place; it’s not just pump out another record and say, ‘All right, let’s get back to the bus.’"
Feel That Fire includes guest appearances by Americana singer-songwriter Patty Griffin and bluegrass musician Ronnie McCoury, as well as a song co-written with Rodney Crowell.
Meanwhile, his GAC special Dierks Bentley: Feel That Fire has encore airings at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, and at midnight and noon ET Wednesday.
