Feb. 20, 2009 Any good rock musician knows the key to winning over a crowd is attitude, and Dierks Bentley has just enough to qualify him as a part-time rocker.
Last August, he performed at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, making him one of the rare country artists to play that big-time annual event.
"I was like only the second country artist to play Lollapalooza after Waylon Jennings," he told Canadas Sun Media. "It's a cool thing to be able to walk that line. I've got one foot in Nashville, one foot in Texas, one foot in the bluegrass world, but we have a rock-n-roll energy."
So dont hate him if his brashness mirrors David Lee Roth, Gene Simmons or Mick Jagger.
"I don't think anyone can touch us as a live band," Dierks insisted. "We're a great-sounding band. We've toured so much, and we have a great body of work. I just love singing every night."
Of late, Dierks is on the road with Brad Paisley and Crystal Shawanda. They play Edmonton on Friday, Calgary on Saturday and Vancouver on Tuesday.
