Montgomery Gentry Banged Up

Feb. 24, 2009 — One of the strongest memories from a Montgomery Gentry concert is the image of Eddie Montgomery stomping across the stage twirling the mic stand. Not surprisingly, that little habit takes its toll on the band and their equipment.

"I’ve got dings in guitars," Troy Gentry told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "I’ve gone home with bruises — unexplained bruises — until I got to thinking back where they may have come from. Everything’s spontaneous onstage with Eddie and I. I’ve gone home with dings in the guitars and bruises on my legs and on my arms."

This summer might make for a lot of black-and-blue marks after the duo gets revved up from the adrenaline of playing in front of an entire stadium of fans. They play the first of a dozen ballparks on Kenny Chesney’s Sun City Carnival Tour May 30. Also on the bill will be Sugarland, Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert.
