Feb. 27, 2009 — Despite her bout with tendonitis, Jewel is bound and determined to take part in this year’s "Dancing With The Stars." The ABC series has become a ratings hit, providing plenty of attention for such previous contestants as Marie Osmond, Cloris Leachman, Lance Bass, Toni Braxton and Billy Ray Cyrus.

One star who’d love to compete on it is LeAnn Rimes, who sang "How Do I Live" in a 2007 episode. And she’d probably get some good coaching, too, since husband Dean Sheremet was a professional dancer at the time the two met. So far, LeAnn’s been prevented from joining the cast by her schedule.

"They’ve asked for the last three years," she notes, "but I haven’t had the time. That’s a true commitment and a big workout. I would love to do it, but we’ll see. Maybe one day, that would be fun."

Fun is part of the reason Julianne Hough is back for this season, which begins March 9. She had intended to skip the show to concentrate on her music, but when the opportunity came up to partner with boyfriend Chuck Wicks as a dance team, she changed her mind. She insists their relationship does not mean they’ll be sneaking in extra rehearsals.

"Are you kidding?" she laughs. "First of all, we don’t have time to get in any extra practice. We’re actually struggling to get in the normal amount. We’re just gonna go there and have a blast, because that’s what the show is all about. And plus it gives us time to spend together."

One person you will never see on "DWTS," unless he should decide to sing as a guest, is Trace Adkins.

"I’ve turned down ‘Dancing With The Stars,’" he says. "I’m not gonna do that, just not gonna do it. I’m not gonna humiliate myself just to be on television."
