Clint Black, Joan Rivers Chill

April 13, 2009 — A week after Clint Black and Joan Rivers butted heads in an episode of "The Celebrity Apprentice," the two ended up drinking champagne together on Sunday’s installment as their team, KOTU, won the competition with Donald Trump firing a member of rival Athena.

Joan last week said she would "turn my back" in the future if she were to encounter Clint on a red carpet, but the two worked together without rancor in developing a retail display this week for LifeLock identity-theft prevention.

Clint did annoy her during the meeting when he asked the LifeLock execs if their work on the project would get them free use of the product.

"If it ain’t about Clint," she lamented, "it ain’t about nothin’."

But when it came time to develop the display, Clint seemed to regain her confidence. Their team played up its celebrity status by matching their own photos on the display with appropriate quotes, and Clint developed the quotes in each instance. His endorsement: "I may lose my voice on tour, but I’ll never lose my identity." For Joan, he offered the line, "People may steal my jokes, but they’ll never steal my identity."

Winning pretty much put their differences in the past, and the two were able to celebrate with champagne while the other team faced Donald Trump in the boardroom. Brian McKnight, who served as project manager for Athena, admitted he’d lost his fire for the competition, and Trump easily fired him.

The episode was extended when Trump forced both teams to start work immediately on the next assignment: an auction of jewelry designed by Trump’s daughter, Ivanka.
