May 15, 2009 — With "Always The Love Songs," the Eli Young Band has broken through to the Top 15 for the first time in its career, and the group will meet up with host Nan Kelley on this weekend’s edition of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

"Always The Love Songs," written by former hitmakers David Lee Murphy and George Ducas, might be their commercial breakthrough, but EYB has actually been working together for nine years. The four members — Mike Eli, James Young, Jon Jones and Chris Thompson — met up in Denton, Texas, and began building their reputation by touring as often as possible, growing from clubs to small theaters even before they made their chart debut. And they’ll be doing plenty more road work in the coming months.

"Summer time is touring time for us, and that’s what we like to do," Chris told the Texan newspaper The Orange Leader. "Then, after the summer is done, we’ll probably head back into the studio to start working on the next record. There’s no rest for the weary."
