May 28, 2009 — Gary Allan went to court in a Nashville suburb Wednesday with hopes that legal action would end what his attorney says is four years of stalking by an obsessed woman.

Gary was on hand at the Sumner County Court in Gallatin as Katherine Walker admitted to vandalizing his property earlier this month. According to The Hendersonville Star News, she told the judge she "lost it" when she believed Gary was going to meet her at a bar for drinks. Instead, she discovered another woman’s vehicle outside his home and proceeded to toss potted plants, throw a heater off a second-floor balcony and dump patio furniture in his pool. She also admitted to taking the auto registration and a miniskirt from the other woman’s vehicle.

Security footage from Gary’s house allegedly identifies the 47-year-old woman. He maintains she has shown up multiple times at his home and embarrassed him publicly at a local club. Katherine originally chased Gary’s guitar player, Jake Kelly, Gary’s attorney said, until Jake left the band four years ago. Gary says she began harrassing him at that time, though Katherine told reporters that the singer had in fact been stalking her for the past two years.

"He’s really, really hurt me," she insisted, "and basically ruined my life."

She is accused of stalking, vandalism and burglary, among other charges. In addition, the court ordered her not to contact Gary or his associates. He is expected to file a civil lawsuit, perhaps on Thursday, to keep her away permanently.

A grand jury is slated to hear the case July 24.
