June 3, 2009 Rascal Flatts went to No. 1 last month on the USA Today Mediabase country chart with "Here Comes Goodbye," and the achievement was plenty enough reason for the band to throw an exclusive party this week at Nashvilles Cabana restaurant.
Written in part by former "American Idol" contestant Chris Sligh, the song was the lead single from the trios new Unstoppable album, and it obviously worked perfectly.
"I think immediately when we heard the song it was a wonderful demo," Joe Don Rooney told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "And I think from the get-go, the first note that the singer sung to the very end, we just knew it was a Rascal Flatts song. It had an amazing hook and an incredible melody, and the ebb and flow of the song just takes you on an emotional journey. And thats what we all look for in a song for Rascal Flatts, and we were very lucky to get that one to be the hood ornament of this new album, I guess you could say, for lack of better terminology. Were lucky to have it."
The group including lead vocalist Gary LeVox and bass player Jay DeMarcus kicks off its American Living Unstoppable Tour with Darius Rucker Friday in St. Louis. The summer schedule also includes a stop at Chicagos Wrigley Field, where theyll be joined on the bill by Vince Gill.
