Travis Tritt

June 17, 2009 — Travis Tritt’s father, James E. Tritt, 76, died Monday, spurring Travis to cancel a planned performance Thursday in Wisconsin.

James was a retired school bus driver who received a commendation from the American Red Cross after saving the life of one of his passengers. A U.S. Army veteran, he worked for the school system in Cobb County, Ga., where he resided his entire life.

Travis is expected to attend the funeral service in Marietta on Thursday, the same day he had been slated to appear at the Apple River Country Splash in Somerset, Wis. The bill for that concert also features Little Big Town, Luke Bryan and Katie Armiger. Travis is scheduled to perform Saturday in Saginaw, Mich., according to Pollstar. An official release gave no indication that Travis will cancel that appearance.

Contributions may be made in James’ name to the American Heart Association, One Corporate Square Suite 127, Atlanta, GA 30329.
